Cypress Sunset - Guadalupe River Texas - North Fork

This scene was captured on the upper regions of the Guadalupe River near Hunt Texas. The source of the Guadalupe River is fed by underground artesian rivers roughly 15 miles upstream from this location. I spend a lot of time on this river, kayaking and enjoying the wild un-touched charm this river provides throughout the year. Sunsets along the river’s cypress tree lined banks are simply breathtaking. I finally captured one of those moments, on a section of river, that simply recharges my soul. A one second exposure @ F22 captured this moment as Mr. Sun slowly sank through the cypress trees.

One of life's simple thrills!

  2. Beautiful. When I was a kid, I had my picture in the newspaper under those falls. I always loved right there at that spot, you are in the middle of three distinctly different looking locations just within yards of each other. Above, as you can see is the gently flowing wider portion above the dam, there the sun shines on the middle of the lazy river. Then where this photo was taken, the treelined hole is where we used to climb the huge cypress and swing into the water. Finally, downstream from there, you see where the water flows under the roadway and it narrows. Beautiful. Just lovely.
